$225 - Annual Winter Mooring Service Fee
October - December
- Winter Mooring Service contract fees are invoiced in Aug or Sep. ($225/mooring)
- Paid WMS invoices are added to our to-do list.
- Please remove your pickup stick while vacating your mooring for the winter, as they often get run over or destroyed by bad weather when attached to vacant moorings, and we will not replace them for free.
- We hoist your pennant, buoy, and top chain into our boat until we reach the bottom shackle (between top and bottom chain).
- We clean off any growth and detach the top shackle, pennant, and buoy from the chain.
- If any component in the boat is worn out, we go ahead and replace it then.
- We tie a winter stick to the end of the top chain and toss it overboard so we can retrieve the ground tackle in the spring.
- We store the buoy, pennant, and top shackle on land over the winter.
- Buoys are repainted and renumbered as needed.
- We hoist the winter stick, rope, and top chain into our boat, and untie them.
- We check the wear and tear of your top chain and bottom shackle again and replace as needed.
- We reattach your buoy, top shackle, and pennant to your top chain, and toss them overboard.
- If your buoy is a keg, we coil the pennant up on top, otherwise, we drape the loops over the top shackle to keep it clean & dry until you arrive.
$200 - Triannual Inspection Fee
- When due for inspection, we attempt to hoist your whole mooring system into our boat and inspect it onboard.
- We hire a diver to inspect the lower half if we fail to break your anchor free from the mud.
- We'll quote major repairs before repairing and perform minor repairs as needed before billing.
- Minor repairs include replacing top chain and shackles.
- Major repairs include more expensive components like pennants, buoys, bottom chain, and anchors.
- We try to inspect as many moorings as possible in the fall to reduce our workload in the spring.
- The exact date of inspection is irrelevant as long as it is before the 4th summer of occupancy.
- The deadline for submitting inspection reports to the city of Newport is September 1, as that is the date they send permit renewal notices.
